2019 Music Workshop Theme:

Emmanuel

Matthew 1:22-23  Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,  23  Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Sermon One: GOD was with Us

Focus: In order to save us, God had to exert his super-natural powers and pour forth His abundant mercies. Only God could save us and He chose to do so.

Luke 5:21-24  And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?  22  But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?  23  Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?  24  But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.

1 John 3:5  And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

Sermon Two: God WITH Us; A Blessed Visitation

Focus: Jesus, The Light, came into the dark world and lit the paths of all he was with. The blind saw and rejoiced, the lame walked and leapt with new legs leaps of joy. The downtrodden sinner heard words of comforting grace. The hungry were fed and the ignorant had the mysteries of the ages explained to them in ways they could understand. As the two men on the road to Emmaus said: Did not our hearts burn within us as we walked with Him by the way.

Isaiah 9:2  The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

Luke 4:17-21  And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,  18  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,  19  To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.  20  And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.  21  And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Sermon Three: God is STILL with Us

Focus: Through the gift of the indwelling Holy Ghost and the gift of the Word and the gift of faith we are still able to experience the joys of our Emanuel. We who sit in the darkness are still able to have the joy of seeing the Light of The World. As the song lyrics so beautifully state: "And He walks with me and He talks with me and tells me I am His own…"

Galatians 2:20  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

John 14:18-21  I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.  19  Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.  20  At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.  21  He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
